Verruca treatment options

Verruca Needling (Falknor’s Needling)

A minor podiatric procedure for persistent verrucae (plantar warts), using a sterile needle under local anesthetic to stimulate the immune system to fight HPV.

How It Works:
The verruca is repeatedly punctured, pushing viral material into deeper skin layers. This alerts the immune system, which may then clear the infection—even at untreated sites.

Benefits:

  • Local anesthetic ensures comfort

  • Often only one session needed

  • ~70% success rate within 6 months

  • Can treat multiple verrucae indirectly

  • Minimal downtime; mild soreness is typical

Aftercare:
Avoid anti-inflammatories (they may reduce immune response), and don’t drive or walk long distances until numbness wears off. Full resolution can take several weeks.
